§ 34-74. General powers and duties of police officers.

  • It shall be the duty of all police officers and patrolmen to aid and assist the police chief in the execution of his duties and they shall have the power and authority in the village to serve and execute warrants and other process for the apprehension and commitment of persons charged with any misdemeanor or held for examination on trial or taken in execution for the commission of any crime or misdemeanor or violation of any law or ordinance of the village. They shall perform such other duties as are now or hereafter may be required of them by the police chief, by ordinance or by rules and regulations of the police department.
