§ 2-213. Compensation.

  • (a)

    The village attorney shall be paid an hourly rate, salary or retainer as shall be fixed from time to time by the board of trustees and in addition thereto, such compensation as the village board may authorize or subsequently approve from time to time necessarily spent in the preparation and trial of all proceedings in all courts of record and before other regulatory bodies in which the village may be party or directly interested.

    (b)

    The village attorney, while acting as the attorney for the board of local improvements, shall receive compensation as shall be fixed separately from time to time by the board of trustees; however, such compensation shall be paid for from warrants and vouchers of the special assessment and not from monies of the general fund. However, if the proposed improvement shall be abandoned before or after the awarding of any contract, he shall receive no compensation for work done in connection with such proceeding, unless so authorized by the board of trustees.
