§ 12-260. Electrical inspector.

  • (a)

    The village has created the office of electrical inspector. The person chosen to fill the office shall be appointed by the village manager or his designee and shall be of good moral character and well versed in approved methods of electrical construction for the safety of life and property, the statutes of the state relating to electrical work, the rules and regulations issued by the state fire marshal under authority of the statutes, the National Electrical Code, the Chicago Electrical Code, and other installation and safety rules and standards approved by the American Engineering Standards Committee.

    (b)

    It shall be unlawful for the electrical inspector, except in the performance of his official duties, to engage in the business of the installation, alteration, maintenance or sale of electric wiring, electric devices or electric material, either directly or indirectly; and he shall have no financial interest in any concern engaged in such business in this village at any time while holding the office of electrical inspector.

    (c)

    The electrical inspector shall be subject to removal by the village manager or his designee for a violation of this section or for any other just cause, and he shall receive for his services a salary to be fixed by the village manager or his designee.
